DesignQuest I have known Jim Blackie and his family for over 30 years and from the first time I met him, all he spoke of was his love for the Lakes Region. As teenagers, Jim would orchestrate weekend getaways for all of us to The Weirs. These would include trips during all of the seasons, with Jim articulating to us all of the unique features of the region at that particular time of year. From Jim’s enthusiasm for the region, a number of us have also grown very fond of the area and frequently vacation there with our friends and families. Jim’s passion grew from just wanting to vacation there, to his dream of one day making the Lakes Region his home, and he did so moving himself and his family there over 10 years ago. Now his passion has grown outside of his circle of friends and family, to a self started business to advertise all that the Lakes Region has to offer. From that time on, he and family came back every summer. Jim, as many others, loved the area and what it had to offer them and for their families. Jim knew from a young age that he would bring his family here one day.   Jim has done a wonderful job with the Gunstock Acres website. I don’t know of any other web site where you can find a list of services, and if you can’t find it, all one needs to do is email Jim and he will get you the answer. Jim has basically done what we used to do in the early days of the Weirs Chamber of Commerce. We did all that by mail year round. Who would have guessed we would have computers in almost every home and for people going to the Gunstock Acres website?   Jim’s love for the area is to bring The Weirs back to its time of yesteryear.
